The Star Who Lost Her Light

In the night sky above the Whispering Forest, thousands of stars twinkled.

Among them was a little star named Lumi.

Lumi loved to shine.

“Tonight, I’m going to shine even brighter than yesterday!”

Every evening, Lumi waited for the sun to go down. Then she sparkled with all her might.

The animals in the forest loved her light.

A rabbit walking home late at night looked up at Lumi to find the way.

Little birds waved to her before falling asleep.

“Good night, Lumi!”

Whenever Lumi heard them, she shone even brighter.

But one night, something was different.

Lumi opened her eyes and tried to sparkle.

Nothing happened.

She tried again.

“One, two, three!”

Still nothing.

She squeezed with all her might.

But her light did not come.

“My light is gone.”

Lumi was frightened.

She had always thought that a star had to shine.

And if she could not shine…

maybe she was not much of a star anymore.

The stars beside her whispered,

“Maybe you just need some rest.”

“Your light might come back tomorrow.”

But Lumi shook her head.

“I’m no use to anyone now.”

And she hid behind a cloud.
