Kensō Soai (征矢野? / Kenso Soai, 1950– ) is a Japanese organic chemist best known for discovering asymmetric autocatalysis—a reaction in which a chiral product helps make more of itself while amplifying its own handedness.
That reaction became known as the Soai reaction.
The striking feature of the Soai reaction is that an initially tiny imbalance between two mirror-image molecular forms can become dramatically amplified over repeated reaction cycles.
