Beaufort Castle (Qalʿat al-Shaqif / قلعة الشقيف) in southern Lebanon, a dramatic medieval fortress overlooking the Litani River valley.

It stands near Arnoun in Nabatieh Governorate, on a high rocky ridge commanding routes between southern Lebanon and the Upper Galilee.

Its Arabic name roughly means “Castle of the High Rock.”
