Primorsky Krai, in the Russian Far East, borders the northwestern part of the Sea of Japan and is an important fisheries and aquaculture region.

However, it is important to distinguish between resources caught in the coastal waters of Primorsky Krai and resources caught elsewhere in the Russian Far East by vessels based in or operating through Vladivostok.

The main fisheries resources can be summarized as follows:

* Fish: Important species include pollock, cod, flatfish, herring, saury, smelt, and salmon species.

Salmon resources, especially migratory salmon, are also supported through hatchery and release programs in rivers and coastal areas of Primorsky Krai.
